KNISEL – Walter Joseph, 88, New Germany, passed peacefully April 4, 2022, at home surrounded by family. Born October 28, 1933, in Portage, son of William A. and Julia (Saylor) Knisel. Preceded in death by parents; infant twin daughters, Mary Jean and Mary Joan; infant sister, Dorothy Pearl; sister, Rosellia Knisel; and brother, Edward Knisel.
Survived by wife of 66 years, Mary Jane (Werfel) Knisel; children, Joseph M. Knisel, Texas; Mary Ann, wife of Elwood Adams, Sidman; Rose Marie Penatzer, Johnstown; Ronald A. Knisel, Summerhill; Karen Louise, wife of Timothy Beyer, Summerhill; and Rita Mae, wife of Frank Peixoto, California; 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; and brother, William, married to Doris (Freidhoff), New Germany.
Walter worked 33 years for Bethlehem Steel, Franklin Mill. Member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church. He enjoyed bowling, being in the woods, and making memories with his family.
Friends will be received from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, Father Joseph C. Nale, celebrant.
Committal, St. Bartholomew Cemetery.
