Terry J. Shaffer

SHAFFER – Terry J., 56, Beaverdale, died peacefully July 11, 2023, at Windber Hospice. Born October 16, 1966, in Johnstown, son of Emerson Daniel and Ella Joyce (Swartz) Shaffer. Preceded in death by parents; and “stepdad,” Herb Marshall.

Survived by wife, Beth Ann (Swope) Shaffer; children, Daniel (Janessa), Alex (Jackie), and Shannon Shaffer; stepchildren, Ryan (Brianna), Devon (Victoria), Blake (Kylea), and Hannah Michaels; beloved grandchildren, Sawyer, Summer, Serenity, Ellie, and Silas; brothers, Gary, (Kimberly), Todd (Tricia), and Timothy (Danielle); and sister, Danna Porada (Christopher).

Graduate of Greater Johnstown Vo-Tech, class of 1984. Terry was a coal mine mechanic for many years and had a remarkable ability to fix anything. He cherished spending time with family and friends, never hesitated to throw another log on the campfire, and never missed the opportunity to help others. Even in his waning months he was a model of strong will and determination.

Friends will be received from 3 p.m. until time of service at 7 p.m. Saturday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., Pastor Doug Black presiding.
