RICHARDS – Ronald E. Sr., 79, Salix, died October 10, 2021, at UPMC Presbyterian. Born June 29, 1942, in South Fork, son of the late Harry and Bertha E. (Hand) Richards.
Survived by loving wife of 57 years, Shirley (Love) Richards, whom he married September 26, 1964; son, Ronald E. Jr., married to Michele (Staines), Linwood, New Jersey; daughter, Robin E. Richards, Pittsburgh; grandchildren, Brandon Staines; and Samantha and Riley Richards; brothers, Dennis, married to Veronica (Evanchick), Krayn; and Kenneth, married to Sally (Wadsworth), New Florence; sister, Deborah Richards, Florida; and nephews, niece, grandnieces, and great grandnephew.
Ron was a graduate of Adams Summerhill High School, class of 1960, member of Salix Bethel United Methodist Church, and a US Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. Following retirement from the Plumber & Pipefitters Local Union 354, Ron worked as an HVAC instructor at Greater Johnstown Vo-Tech. Member of American Legion Post 551, St. Michael for over 50 years, where he served as former Post Commander and current Vice Commander; member of Laurel Highlands Chapter 364, Vietnam Veterans of America; lifetime member of VFW Post 7622, New Florence; and regular at the “Thursday Morning Breakfast Club.”
Honoring his wishes, funeral service will be private.
