WILLIAMSON – Robert LaRue, 87, longtime resident of Jacobus, Pennsylvania, died October 30, 2021, at McCullough Place in Johnstown. Born August 1, 1934, in Williamsport. Preceded in death by parents, Aleon and Margaret (Jacobs) Williamson – Bird; and stepfather, Collins Bird.
Survived by loving wife of 65 years, Mary Ellen (Hauser) Williamson, whom he married October 20, 1956; sons David, married to Laura (Beauchamp), Johnstown; and Scott, married to Susan (Dennis), Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; and beloved grandchildren, Rebecca, Jessica, and Nicholas. Bob was a graduate of Williamsport High School, class of 1952. He became a journeyman tool and die maker, and after serving in the US Navy during the Korean War, earned his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Tri-State College in Indiana (now Trine University). A retired Mechanical Engineer from Tyco Electronics (Amp Inc), he held multiple patents in the plastics industry. Former member of Salem United Church of Christ, Jacobus, Pennsylvania. An avid sailor, he was also an enthusiastic musician who enjoyed playing in various community bands over the years. In retirement he was a proud owner of a vintage Volkswagen Bug and a Mustang convertible.
Honoring his request there will be no visitation.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at a later date.
