SLANOC (SLONAC) Robert J. “Zut,” 82, Twinsburg, Ohio; formerly of St. Michael, passed away June 7, 2023. Born August 25, 1940, in Windber, son of Martin and Anna (Peretin) Slanoc. Preceded in death by parents; wife, Karen Sue (Badar), who died March 10, 2023; sisters, Margaret Garanich (Art), Barbara Graves (Bill), Dianne Summers, Nancy Sorrell; and brother, Steve.
Survived by brothers, Charles, Andrew (Laura), and Martin (Lynn); in-laws, Geraldine Slanoc, Wayne Summers, and Shawn Sorrell; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graduate of Adams High School, class of 1958; where he earned 10 varsity letters in basketball, baseball, and football. Played on two District 6 Basketball championship teams. His senior year, Bob was the PIAA class B leading scorer in points and average per game and third overall in the State. Charter member of St. Michael Little League Baseball. Played in the Cambria County American Legion and Industrial Leagues and the Johnstown Junior League, where he played in two AAABA tournaments of 1957 and 1959. Bob was one of 13 Slonac and Peretin first cousins that played football for 20 consecutive years. He also played all three sports while serving in the US Army in Germany. Member of the American Legion. Avid golfer and sports fan. Retired from Republic Steel Corp after 33 years of service. Played in the Republic and Cleveland Industrial Golf Leagues for 40 years.
