ROWE – Reverend Larry Gene, 82, Johnstown, joined the cloud of witnesses, January 30, 2026. Born April 30, 1943, in Johnstown. Preceded in death by parents, George and Wilma (Stiffler) Rowe; siblings, Ron Stiffler (Bonnie), George Rowe Jr., and Frances Rowe.
Survived by loving wife of 60 years, Mary Ann (Sebes), whom he married January 22, 1966; daughters, Georgann Thomas (Barry), Sue Campbell (Dan), and Beth Forsythe (Craig); grandchildren, Adrianna Johnson (Timmy), Sam Thomas, Christianna and Caitlin Campbell, and Ezekiel Forsythe; sister, Margie Roseman (Robert); in laws, Janet Matten (Fran) and Philip Sebes (Donna); and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A graduate of Greater Johnstown High School, class of 1961, University of Pittsburgh, and Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. Former employee of Bethlehem Steel, Ford Motor Credit Company, and Johnstown Bank & Trust. Former member of the Windber Rotary Club. 11 years with the 28th Military Police Company, Pennsylvania Army National Guard. He answered the call to ministry at age 42 and pastored congregations at Emerickville, Mount Hope, and Clark/Charleston. Retired at age 65 and continued to fill the pulpit at Franklin Street, First Church, and numerous others throughout the Johnstown area for many years. His greatest joy was preaching, teaching the Bible, and serving others. He lived to share the love of Christ and salvation in Jesus, deeply loving the Lord and the church community. Larry enjoyed travel relating to history and biblical education journeys (such as Israel, Greece, Turkey, Jamaica). Well done, good and faithful servant. The best is yet to come!
Friends will be received at Mount Hope Community Church, South Fork; from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. until a celebration of his life and God’s faithfulness at 11 a.m. Monday at Mount Hope Community Church, South Fork; the Reverend Thomas Moore, presiding. Interment, Mount Hope Cemetery. Arrangements by Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc.
