Mildred I. Frombach

Oct 27, 1931 — Sep 8, 2026

FROMBACH - Mildred I. “Millie” (Sell), 94, South Fork, died peacefully at Windber Hospice on September 8, 2026. Born October 27, 1931.

Preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Mildred (Livingston) Sell; sisters, Vera Sigg and Shirley Hochstein; and husband, Richard W. “Dick” Frombach. Millie and Dick were married July 7, 1950, and shared nearly 42 years of marriage until his death on April 26, 1992.

Survived by her devoted sons, Rick (Stefanie) Frombach and Terry Frombach; granddaughters, Amy (Jerry) Laucella, Christa (Bryan) Lohr, Ericka Frombach and Jennifer (Bill) Plummer; 10 great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren.

Millie spent most of her life in South Fork, where she and Dick made their home and raised their family. She remained in the Frombach home for 71 years. In her younger years, she worked at the South Fork sewing factory before becoming a homemaker and caring for her family. Millie was dedicated to the South Fork community and had a long history of public service. For several years, she operated the police dispatch center from the Frombach home, dispatching police, fire and EMS. Her radio call sign was KGH764, and Dick was known as Car 1. She provided those dispatch services until the Mainline Police Communications Network was established by Dick, providing a communications network for emergency services throughout the area. Millie later served for many years as a polling constable and became a familiar face at the polls. When Dick became ill, Millie cared for him at home until his death in 1992. She continued to care for her family in the years that followed, much as she always had, through the things she did for them.

Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Windber Hospice. Arrangements by Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork.
