MACOVITCH – Michael J., 94, Roaring Spring, died August 29, 2026. Born December 10, 1931, in Hazelton, son of Michael J. and Agnes (Soyke) Macovitch. Preceded in death by parents; wife, Hazel (Mock) Macovitch, who died April 14, 2009; daughter, Michele Lee Hess; son-in-law, Bob Hess; sisters, Rita Bush and Dorothy Kleckner; and brother, John, Edward, and Richard.
Survived by daughter, Beverly, wife of Carl “Sonny” Servello; grandson, Shawn Servello, married to Mandy (Reed); granddaughters, Amber Servello, engaged to Jeremy McCoy; and Amanda Servello, married to Dusty Mauk; great grandchildren, Michael McCoy; and Coen and Ella Mauk.
Mike was a graduate of Hazelton High School and longtime member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Roaring Spring. He was a US Air Force veteran of the Korea War and member of VFW Post 8724, Duncansville. Mike had worked as a machinist with Berwind White Railway and the former Blair Press. An avid fan of Penn State and the Pittsburgh Pirates, Mike spent many years traveling to Bradenton, Florida, for spring training. Following his retirement, he spent 22 years serving as an usher for the Altoona Curve.
Friends will be received at the church from 10 a.m. until time of Mass, which will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Roaring Spring, Father Allen Zeth, celebrant. Committal, with military honors at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg. Arrangements by Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork.
