Melvin A. Wilt

January 1, 1946 — October 3, 2025

WILT - Melvin A., 79, Windber, went to be with the Lord on October 3, 2025 at UPMC Shadyside. Born, January 1, 1946, in Gaffney, South Carolina. Preceded in death by parents, Charles and Beverly Jewel (Blanton) Wilt, and brother-in-law, Melvin Alexander.

Survived by loving wife of 51 years, Debbie (Mickolick) Wilt; children, Beverly (Brian) Chesnutwood, Salix; Charles (Tony), Maryland; and Veronica (Nick) Webber, New Jersey; grandchildren, Stephanie (Tyler), Sidman; Justin Chesnutwood, Pittsburgh; and Melissa (Joe) Sutton, New Jersey; great-granddaughter, Faith Sutton; sister, Nancy Alexander, Spartinsburg, South Carolina; and numerous in-laws, and nieces and nephews.

Melvin was many things, but first and foremost, he was proud to serve his country as a Vietnam Veteran. He continued his dedication to his country and community through his involvement in organizations like the South Fork VFW, the American Legion in Ebensburg, the AmVets in Falling Waters, West Virginia, and the Windber Moose.

Every winter, he and his beloved wife would pack up and head to Florida, chasing the sunshine as snowbirds. And every summer, you could find him in West Virginia, soaking in the peace and beauty of the hills. He loved cooking, especially spicy food. He had a special talent for crafting meals that could clear your sinuses in one bite. And while the rest of us needed a gallon of water just to get through a meal, he relished every fiery bite. He will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of sharing in his life. But we’ll carry his stories, his values, and even a little of his spice with us always.

Friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until time of service at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork, the Reverend Randy Landman presiding.

Interment, Forest Lawn Cemetery, Johnstown.

Military rites by St. Michael American Legion Post 551.
