BRACKEN – Matthew T., 51, Johnstown, died June 13, 2022, at home. Born September 19, 1970, in Johnstown, son of Deborah (Shope) and the late Thomas V. Bracken.
Survived by mother, Summerhill; wife Michelle (Fink) Bracken, Johnstown, daughter, Kayla Bracken, Australia; sister, Jamie (Robert) Heinrich, Summerhill; step daughter, Ashleigh (Bryan) Spradlin, Roanoke, Virginia; step son, Michael Fink, Roanoke, Virginia; aunts and uncles, Clara Ann (Richard) Doyka; Richard (Louise) Shope; and Daniel (Deborah) Shope; nephew and niece, Thomas and Alicia Heinrich, step grandchildren, Riley, Jordyn, and Dakota; and dear friends, Matt Estok, Ed and Debbie Partsch, and Dee Jenkins.
Matt was a 1988 graduate of Forest Hills High School, class of 1988 and earned an associate degree in IT from Mount Aloysius College. He worked as a technical engineer for WJAC TV, Johnstown. He especially loved his dogs, the beauty and serenity of nature, and the feeling of freedom while riding his motorcycle. He truly believed that few things tasted as good as food prepared over a well-made fire and few things were as fun as digging around on his Kubota tractor like a kid with a tonka truck. Though he faced tough times and wrestled with personal struggles, he had a spirit that did not stop trying to do better. His compassionate understanding for others, sense of loyalty, warmth and laughter will remain in our hearts forever.
Friends will be received from 3 p.m. until time of service at 6 p.m. Friday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork, the Reverend Michael Christine presiding.
