Lester W. Standley, 87, Laurel View Village, Pa., formerly of Trumbull, Conn., and Greenville, S.C., died Oct. 28, 2015.
Born Dec. 18, 1927 in Raynham, Mass., son of Lester and Margaret (Ratter) Standley. Preceded in death by parents; sister, Nancy E. Standley; and brothers, Charles F. and Gilbert S. Standley.
Survived by loving wife of 52 years, Nancy A. (Owen) Standley, whom he married June 29, 1963; sons, Bruce, married to Nadine Long, Summerhill; and Brian, married to Katie Bragg, London, England; grandchildren, Owen, and wife, Cammette; Nora; and Evan; and sister, Barbara C. Standley, Nichols, Conn.
Lester served in the U.S. Navy from 1946 to 1950. Graduate of Bridgeport Engineering Institute. His career at Textron Co. spanned 40 years, where he worked as senior manufacturing engineer in the gas turbine engine division. He was actively involved with the Boy Scouts of America for many years and was a member of America-St. John's Lodge No. 8 AF&AM, Stratford Conn.
Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Laurel View Village Chapel, 200 Cambridge Drive, Davidsville, Pa. 15928, the Rev. Jeffrey Bassette, officiating.
