MALESKY – Lawrence C. “Larry,” 83, New Germany, died September 23, 2025. Born August 21, 1942, in Croyle Township. Preceded in death by parents, Charles W. and Helen (Matusik) Malesky; twin sister, Mary Ann Hughes; brother, Frank; and great-grand baby, Nicholas.
Survived by sons, Tim (Michelle); Tom (Terri); Barry (Tracy); and Sam; grandchildren, Matthew (Courtney), Stephen (Kathleen), Lauren (Max), Danielle, Julianne, Emily, and Logan; great grandchildren, Waylon, Nolan, Charlie, Brooks, Easton, Frankie, Autumn, Bennett, and Clementine; and brother-in-law, Don Hughes.
For more than three decades Larry devoted himself to protecting and serving as a Trooper with the Pennsylvania State Police. In 1985, he received the Valor Award for saving a life, though he'd probably tell you he was just doing his job. And in 1994, Larry was named Pennsylvania Trooper of the Year, a recognition that spoke volumes about a career marked by professionalism, strength, and humility. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and the American Association of State Troopers, continuing to support those who wore the badge. He also liked to have a good time and could often be found among friends at the Wilmore Sportsmen’s Club, Summerhill Social Club, Portage Moose, St. Michael American Legion, or the Nanty Glo Polish Club. He taught us what it means to serve with honor, to lead by example, and to live a life that truly matters.
