LaVon G. George

GEORGE – LaVon G. “Honey,” 93, St. Michael, died May 31, 2025. Born August 1, 1931, in Vintondale, daughter of George and Gladys (Cook) Baldwin. Preceded in death by parents; husband, W. Dean George, who died December 27, 2004; sisters, Beryl Motrenec, Dorothy Motrenec, June Seladi, and Elenora “Kay” Frampton; and brother, William Baldwin. 

Survived by sons, Dean D., and David W. Sr. (Michele Jaikes); grandchildren, Michelle, Danielle, David, and Gregory George; and great grandchildren, Kylie, Desiree, and Jeffrey. 

LaVon loved her family fiercely. Her children and grandchildren were the center of her world. She was a familiar face behind the counter at Stager’s Store where for 27 years she was always ready with a warm smile and a kind word. After Stager’s, she continued working at Forest Hills Pharmacy until her retirement. She was a member of St. Michael Methodist Church and the 1889 Historical Society. She enjoyed doing word searches and puzzles and had a special place in her heart for cats. Mom lived simply with a steady love, gentle strength, and grace that never failed. 

Friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork; the Reverend Ashley Weyant, presiding. 

Interment, Dunmyer Cemetery.
