ZALAR – Jeffrey L., 55, South Fork, died October 9, 2025. Born June 2, 1970, in Johnstown, son of the late Donna Lee (Miller) Zalar-Ohler.
Survived by loving wife of 24 years, Vannie L. (Beaner) Zalar, whom he married May 25, 2001; sons, Michael Potter (Joy); Justan Potter; and Ray Potter (Kennedie); sister, Tammy Zalar-Krestar (Steve); and Brandon Hampton (Heather); grandchildren, Lynn, Jace, and Addison; and beloved Boxers, Buster and Sassy.
Jeff was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Whether driving tractor trailer across the highways or serving his community as a Pharmacy Technician at Forest Hills Pharmacy, he always worked hard and gave his best. He was deeply committed to service; as a member of the Adams Township Volunteer Fire Company #2, and through his involvement with Cambria Lodge #278 Free and Accepted Masons, and the Widows Sons Mystic Riders. But if you truly wanted to see Jeff in his element, you’d find him riding his Harley with the wind at his back, a smile on his face, and the road stretching out ahead of him. Or perhaps you’d find him with a fishing pole in hand, or tucked in the woods during hunting season, enjoying the outdoors. Still, of all the roles Jeff held in life, veteran, worker, firefighter, brother, friend; there was none he cherished more than being a grandfather. Jeff was the kind of man who left a mark. On his family. On his community. On everyone fortunate enough to know him. He taught us what it means to serve, to ride free, to work hard, and to love deeply. Rest easy, Jeff. You've served your country, your community, and your family well. We will miss you dearly, but your legacy rides on in each of us.
