Guy M. Galosi

GALOSI – Gaetano Mario “Guy,” 94, Ehrenfeld, died peacefully December 21, 2021, at UPMC Altoona. Born June 27, 1927, son of Frank and Carolina (Grascelli) Galosi. Preceded in death by parents; loving wife, Nancy (Chappell), who died May 9, 1999; sister, Mary G. Pantano; brother, Fred Galosi; and grandson, Dominick Galosi.

Survived by children, Frank, West River, Maryland; Terri, wife of Gus Leach, Sidman; Carla Stevens, South Fork; Guy Wm., Johnstown; Lesley, Ehrenfeld; and Scott, Philadelphia; grandchildren, Brad (Kelly) Myers, Justin Galosi, Matthew (Brid) Leach, Mitchell Leach, Leigha (Landon) Durden, and Kyle (Hailey) Galosi; great grandchildren, Kennedy, Harper, and Margo Myers; and Boone and Briggs Durden; sister-in-law, Alice Galosi; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lifetime member of Mount Carmel Parish, Ehrenfeld; and member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Summerhill. Guy was a US Navy veteran of WWII and former Mayor of Ehrenfeld Borough. He was the much beloved and longtime proprietor of the Galosi Grocery Stores, which he operated into his 90’s. His stores were more than just a place to buy milk and bread; they were a place where the community gathered, where neighbors shared stories, and visitors could reminisce with familiar faces. He cherished spending time with family, was fond of long walks, and enjoyed the nostalgia of sharing memories of days gone by. Pappy G will be sadly missed and forever loved.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass which will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, December 27, 2021, at St. John’s Catholic Church, Father Joseph C. Nale, celebrant.
