SHRIFT – Gaynell A., 70, New Germany, went to be with the Lord April 13, 2023, at home, surrounded by loving family. Born September 13, 1952, in Johnstown, daughter of the late Frank and Bernadine “Bernie” (Radasky) Evanisko.
Survived by husband, John Shrift, whom she married June 7, 1975; daughter, Jennifer Shrift, Mt. Holly Springs; son, John Shrift II, Mineral Point; and brothers, Francis (Barb) Evanisko, Carmichael, California; and James Evanisko, San Jose, California. Also survived by Aunt Florence, Johnstown; Aunt Lorene, Austin, Texas; and special cousin, Barbara Virostek, Johnstown.
Member of Christ the Savior Orthodox Cathedral, Johnstown. Gaynell was a graduate of Johnstown High, class of 1970; earned an associate degree from Cambria Rowe Business College and served as a bookkeeper for Cambria County and Greater Johnstown Career and Technology Center. She enjoyed bowling, was a terrific baker, and was known for her beautiful quilting and crochet work.
Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork, where panachida will be sung at 2 p.m.
Funeral service will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Christ the Savior Orthodox Cathedral, Johnstown; the Very Rev. Protopresbyter Robert Buczak and the Very Rev. Protopresbyter Frank P. Miloro, concelebrants.
Committal, St. Marys Cemetery, New Germany.
