Gaye Lee Walters

WALTERS – Gaye Lee (Mathieson), 74, Summerhill; passed away April 16, 2022, at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, Palliative Care. Born May 4, 1947, in Johnstown, daughter of Leroy and Iva (Gay) Mathieson. Preceded in death by parents; and husband, Charles Walters.

Survived by sister, Doris, wife of Joseph Lacko, Summerhill; daughters, Laura (Lacko) Penatzer (John Heming), Summerhill; Suzanne (Lacko), wife of Joel Penatzer, Sidman; and Amanda Lacko, Summerhill; grandchildren, Ashley Penatzer, Summerhill; Nicholas Penatzer, engaged to Tina Nolan, Shrewsbury, Pennsylvania; Zachary Penatzer, married to Rebekah (Pinkowski), Hayes, Virginia; and Jessica Penatzer, engaged to Benjamin Barclay, Sidman; and former husband, Lawrence Lacko, married to Judy (Wise), Summerhill.

She was a 1965 graduate of Triangle Area High School. Gaye had a genuine joy and zest for life; she truly cherished the simple things. She loved her children, grandchildren, family and friends, and her beloved dog, Bear. She was selflessly devoted to caring for her special needs daughter, Amanda. She enjoyed a good basket party and finding bargains at garage sales. Her kind spirit and generous nature will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.

Friends will be received from 3 p.m. until time of service at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork.
