Elizabeth Lucille McNertney

July 24, 1931 — November 4, 2025

McNERTNEY – Elizabeth Lucille “Liz,” 94, St. Michael, went to be with the Lord November 4, 2025. Born July 24, 1931, in St. Michael; daughter of James S. and Christina (McIntyre) Patterson. Preceded in death by parents; beloved husband, Kenneth E. McNertney, who died December 25, 2016; sister, Christine Ambroe; and brothers, James, George, and William.

Survived daughters, Christine, wife of Pastor Michael Bender; and Cynthia, wife of the Rev. Dr. Rick Clark; 7 beloved grandchildren; and 28 adored great-grandchildren.

Liz lived a life of faith, love, and service. She poured herself into everything she did, whether it was writing for the Portage Dispatch, working for Bestform, serving as a secretary for McNertney Air Conditioning, or operating the “Re-Run Store” she co-owned. As a Pioneer Girls leader at Emmanuel Baptist Church, she helped guide young hearts. Later, as an aide at Forest Hills Elementary, she continued to nurture children. Following retirement, she worked alongside her husband in ministry, serving faithfully wherever God led them. Liz was blessed with many dear friends, and it’s no surprise because her love for others flowed so naturally from her deep love for the Lord. Perhaps what most of us will remember best about Liz is her heart for people. Her home was always warm, always open, and always filled with laughter, good food, and genuine hospitality. Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we rejoice knowing that Liz is now in the presence of her Savior, hearing the words she longed for most: “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

Friends will be received at the church from 9 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Parkview Alliance Church, St. Michael, officiated by her sons-in-law, Pastor Michael Bender and the Rev. Dr. Rick Clark and assisted by Pastor Pat Walsh.

Interment, South Fork Cemetery. Arrangements by Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork.
