HOMWAY-Edward Julius, 94, Windber, passed away August 11, 2026, at Memorial Medical Center. Born October 27, 1931, in Windber, son of Joseph and Jennie (Istokovich) Homway.
Preceded in death by parents, wife Loretta “Dolly” (McAndrews) who passed August 19, 1994; sisters: Gladys “Goldie” Hebebrand, Irene Homway, Marie “Olga” Rodgers, Edith “Honey” Ronald, and Alice Laney; brothers: Joe, Steve, and Frank Homway. Last surviving member of his immediate family. Preceded also in death by special nieces Karen “Sis” Hyatt, Darlene Stanton, and nephew Dennis “Buddy” Carrol.
Survived by son, Edward Jay, husband of Evonne Yanzetich, and grand-dogs Jake, Ruby, Clyde; daughter, Lynette Dunmyer and granddaughters Kayla Grela and Emily and Madison Dunmyer; special niece Diana Tessari and special nephew Leroy Hyatt, as well as numerous other nieces and nephews.
Air Force Veteran of the Cold War Era serving in Greenland. Retired from the iron workers union and the public works department of Windber Borough. Enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, and raising beagles for hunting. He especially enjoyed deer hunting with Eddie and Evie in his later years. At Ed’s request, there will be no viewing or visitation. Private service to be held at convenience of the family. Arrangements by Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork.
