Edna Mae Cook

January 3, 1931 — January 29, 2026

COOK – Edna Mae "Cookie," 95, South Fork, passed January 29, 2026. Born January 3, 1931, in Uniontown. Preceded in death by parents, Vincent and Elizabeth (Repko) Adamsik; husband, Wayne C. Cook, who died June 25, 2016; son, John Cook; and brother William Adamsik and infant brother Francis.

Survived by children, Joyce Pancottine (Dwight); Wayne (Tonya), who died February 1, 2026, only 3 days after her; and Joannie Nedwreski (Dan); grandchildren, Allison, Nicole, and Gina Pancottine; Brittany and Bretton (Ashley) Nedwreski; and 1st Lt. Ashley Cook and 1st Lt. Haley Cook, both of the US Army Reserve; and great grandchildren, Angelina and Ferris, Imogene and Ophelia, and Beau, Logan, Elsy and Avery.

Edna Mae was part of the last graduating class of Portage Township High School, Class of 1948. She graduated from the Conemaugh Valley Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1951 and as the Nurse Manager for the Pediatric Unit at Conemaugh, she was a blessing to the children and families she served, and a trusted leader and mentor to the nurses she guided.

She was sharp until the very end, quick-witted, endlessly curious, and rich with stories. With her wonderful sense of humor and vivid storytelling, time spent with her always left you laughing, learning, and feeling a little more connected to the world.

Love flowed easily from Edna Mae, shared unconditionally to family, friends, colleagues, and strangers who never stayed strangers for long. She showed us how to work with purpose, laugh freely, honor where we come from, and love fully. Though we will miss her voice, her stories, and her steady wisdom, her legacy lives on in the care we give, the stories we tell, and the love we share.

Friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Michael Catholic Church, Father Jerzy Auguscik, OFM Conv., celebrant.

Committal, St. Michael Cemetery.
