David Schrift

SCHRIFT – David, 90 , New Germany, passed away July 17, 2025, with his family by his side. Born December 4, 1934, in Summerhill, son of Victor and Elmira (Bender) Schrift.

Preceded in death by parents; his son, Thomas Schrift; grandson, Michael “Boy” Schrift; great-grandson, John Paul; daughter-in-law, Satin (Lemonovich) Schrift; sister, Delores Farabaugh; and brother, Charles Schrift.

Survived by loving wife of 66 years, Elener Bechel, whom he married June 20, 1959; children, Joseph Schrift; Raymond, married to Deborah Baker; Paul Schrift; Virginia Schrift; and Vickie, wife of Kevin Wirfel; grandchildren, Karissa, Kara, Kayla, Karla, Stacy, Melanie, Heather, Anthony, Sophia, Nicholas, and Samuel; 19 great grandchildren; and 1 great great granddaughter ; brothers and sisters, Patricia Penatzer; Ronald (Gail Boland); Mildred (George) Frank; Hayden (Patricia Klatt); William (Janice Hines); Thelma Long; and Jean (Walter) Sliko; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dave proudly served in the United States Army Rangers. He retired from Bethlehem Steel after thirty years as a Crane Operator and Supervisor.

He was happiest on his farm, planting crops, gardening, and raising livestock.

Friends will be received from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, New Germany, Father Joseph C. Nale, celebrant.
