David H. Bright

September 9, 1949 — September 26, 2025

David H. Bright passed away peacefully in his home on Friday afternoon September 26, 2025, with his loving wife at his side. David had a long and debilitating illness that he fought head on for more than 10 years. Along with the loving care of his dear wife, Tina, and the Doctors, Nurses, and Technicians that ministered to him through this time, he made it far longer than was expected. Mr. Bright was born on September 9, 1949, in Old Norfolk County, now the South Norfolk section of Chesapeake, to the late Seth M. and Claudia Mann Bright. David was a graduate of Oscar Smith High School and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Averett University. He married the love of his life, Tina Cordek, on May 18, 2003, and they celebrated many happy years together. David went on to work as a logistics manager for Eimskip USA, a division of Icelandic Shipping. He would tell many that one of his most significant accomplishments was raising his five children. David loved bicycling, gardening and yard work. He enjoyed travelling and walking his two favorite dogs, Suzette and Aubree.

His legacy will remain through his loving wife of some 22 years, Christine M. “Tina” Cordek; his two daughters, Dana Sampson and husband, Kenneth and Denice Spears and husband, Ricky; his three sons, Nathan Bright and wife Aimee, Joshua Bright and wife Carissa, and David C. Bright and wife Meridith; his five granddaughters, Alexandria Grant, Kaylee Bright, Mia Bright, Casey Bright, and Cameron Bright; his two grandsons, Ethan Bright, and Grayson Bright; and finally his brother, George Bright and his wife, Shirley.
