WESS – Daniel G., 81, Ebensburg, formerly of New Germany, died September 16, 2021, at Cambridge Ebensburg Senior Living. Born April 10, 1940, in New Germany, son of Adolph “Shorty” and Coletta (Betz) Wess. Preceded in death by parents; sister, Helen Miller; and brothers, David C., and George “Bill” Wess.
Survived by loving wife, Phyllis (Agypt), Ebensburg; son, Chad, married to Kim (Ganett), Arnold, Maryland; stepdaughters, Kathleen Maurer, Portage; Heidi, wife of George Kopchik, Ebensburg; Sherri, wife of Andrew Krug, Loretto; and Viki, wife of Patrick Krug, Loretto; grandchildren, Sydney, Julia, and Lucy; 12 step-grandchildren; brother, Richard, married to Frances (Wirfel), New Germany; and sister-in-law, Barbara (Bakale) Wess.
Dan was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, Ebensburg. He attended South Fork Croyle High School, was a graduate of California University of Pennsylvania, and earned a master’s degree in Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. His professional life was dedicated to the Richland School District; where he taught shop class and served as guidance counselor. Dan had many talents and could fix anything. He was an exceptional craftsman whose skill and ability were second to none. He worked with wood, metal, glass, and leather although woodworking was his specialty. His creations were precise and meticulously made. Those fortunate enough to have received one of his handcrafted Christmas gifts will always cherish it.
Honoring his request there will be no visitation.
Family and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass which will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Name Catholic Church; Father Brian Warchola, Celebrant.
