SZWAST – Casimir T., “Cuz” or “Sarge,” 86, South Fork, reunited in Heaven with family October 17, 2021, at Select Specialty Hospital. Born November 13, 1934, in Johnstown, son of John and Mary (Rykala) Szwast.
Preceded in death by parents; grandson, Dustyn Snedden; granddaughter, Stephanie Sendek; infant brother, Andy; brothers, Stanley, Theodore, Andrew, and Blaine; and sisters, Catherine, Estelle and Sophia.
Survived by wife, Nancy J. (Penrod) Szwast; children, Michael Szwast, Barbara Ann (Doug) Snedden, Kimberly (Bill) Burkett, Anita (Robert) Miller, Robert (Denys) Theys, and Lori Jean Szwast; twin sister, Bernice (Don) Nadonley; grandchildren, Eddie, Christopher, David, Jake, Ky, Bobby, Tessa, Dylin, Joey, Travis, Doltyn, Teddy, and Baylee; twenty-two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, South Fork. US Army Veteran of the Korean War and served with the Army National Guard Co. B 103rd Armored 28th Infantry Division. Millwright for Bethlehem Steel and retired from Johnstown America. Member of VFW Post 155, Johnstown; American Legion Post 551, St. Michael; Conemaugh PNA, St. Michael Sportsman’s Club, and lifetime member of Conemaugh Volunteer Fire Department. Casimir was proud of his Polish heritage, had a compassionate soul, and a kind word for all.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Father Joseph C. Nale, Celebrant.
