McINTIRE - Carol Louise (née Durkot), passed away Sunday, May 29, 2022, in West Bloomfield, Michigan; surrounded by her loving family.
Born March 15, 1937, in Johnstown, daughter of George and Virginia (née Brewer) Durkot. Preceded in death parents; husband of sixty-one years, John McIntire; sister, Anna Jean “Jeanie” Koss; nephew, Andrew Koss; and son-in-law, James Wright.
Survived by daughters, Alice Wright; Karen McIntire, wife of Thomas Dodson; and Gail Golem, wife of James Golem; granddaughters, Andrea Wright; Paula Wright, wife of David Oliver; Elizabeth Golem; and Julia Golem; great-granddaughter, Evelyn Wright-Benton; sister, Virginia “Ginny” Evans, wife of John Evans; brother-in-law, Tony Koss; nieces and nephews, Anthony Koss, Jay Dierling, Lynn Schmitt, and Jeffrey Dierling; and great nieces and nephews. She will also be dearly missed by her grand-pets, Nali, Martha, Aggie, Wendy, Tinker Bell, Tiger Lilly, Betty, Honey, Kitten, and Pumpkin.
Carol grew up in South Fork, Pennsylvania; where she met her husband, John McIntire, at the teen canteen. After her marriage to John, they moved to Dearborn Heights, Michigan where she lived for over sixty-five years. Carol was a devoted and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, and she loved the time she spent with her family. When her daughters were children, she was a Girl Scout leader and active in their schools. Throughout her life, Carol enjoyed cooking — she baked the best desserts, and she always had a spot at the table for family, friends, and neighbors. Carol was an active member of Good Shepard United Methodist Church. She enjoyed traveling and visited every state, Europe, and China. Carol also had a keen eye for antiques and curated many beautiful collections.
