Betty J. Hess

HESS – Betty J., 91, formerly of Salix, died April 20, 2022, at Forest Hills Personal Care Home. Born September 26, 1931, in Portage, daughter of Harvey and Stella (Coleman) Miller. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Jason W. Hess, who died October 3, 2013; granddaughter, Lacey Ann (Naugle) Aravich; infant sister, Thelma May; sisters, Hilda Hazlett, Ethel Riblett, Geraldine Wilson, and Virginia Wilson; and brothers, Howard, Glenn, Earl, Harvey, and Joseph Miller.

Survived by daughters, Diana, widow of Donald Kick, Summerhill; and Tammy, wife of Donald Costlow, Windber; six beloved grandchildren, special great granddaughter, Chevelle; and numerous cherished great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

She was a very devoted and active member of Elton Zion UMC. She enjoyed the outdoors and found peace in God’s creation. Her loving spirit was a blessing to all who knew her.

Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork.

Visitation at the church from 10 a.m. until service at 11 a.m. Monday at Elton Zion UMC, the Reverend Daryl Penrod presiding.

Interment, Mount Union Cemetery, Summerhill.
