Barbara M. Thomas

THOMAS – Barbara M., 59, Johnstown, passed away March 11, 2026. Born April 28, 1966, in Portage. Preceded in death by parents, Mirrel and Rita (George) Plummer, and sisters, Diana Bender and Belinda Hess.

Survived by longtime companion, Eugene Hudak; children, Amber Plummer, Douglas Thomas, Keshawn Jefferson, and Sophie Thomas; beloved grandchildren, Natalia Colabove, and Kyriona and Jaxson Thomas; brother, Mirrel Jr.; and sisters, Ellen Goldberg, Maggie Catalfano, Tammy Plummer, and Violet Plummer, and numerous nieces, nephews and other beloved friends and family.

If you ever spent time near her porch, you probably noticed how the birds seemed to know they were welcome. Barb loved feeding them, watching them flutter in and out, bringing a little life and color to her day. She read her prayers every day. She had a laugh you couldn’t forget! Warm, genuine, and contagious. When she laughed, you couldn’t help but laugh too. It had a way of reminding everyone not to take life too seriously. The things that made her special remain with us: the warmth of her laughter, her gentleness, and the quiet strength of her faith. And maybe, when we hear birds sing, see a butterfly, or find ourselves laughing a little harder than usual, we’ll think of her and smile.

Visitation will be private. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork.
