Ann C. Carosi

CAROSI – Ann C. “Anna,” 93, formerly of Salix; died April 25, 2026. Born November 11, 1932, in Jenners, Somerset County.

Preceded in death by parents, John L. and Anna (Mriglud) Straka; husband, Italo J., who died, June 16, 1996; sons, Frank and Italo Jr. “Bucky;” infant siblings, Mary Ann, William, James; brothers, John, Joe, and Ben; and sister, Louise Lintz.

Survived by children, Lea (Tom Smiach), Andrea (Joe Kostyk), and Damian (Donna Murphy); brother, David Straka (Stella); sister-in-law, Shirley Straka; grandchildren Danielle Vivian (Jeff), Justin Carosi, Jennifer Jones (Keith), Joe Smiach (Kelly), Michelle Miller (Josh), Kristin Wilson (Scott), Angela Moore, Joe Kostyk Jr. (Jessica), Stacy Moss (Christopher), Maria Carosi, and Natalie Carosi; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Known as “Baba” to all - she was a loving wife and mother, devoted caregiver to her son, “Bucky,” all his life. She enjoyed playing cards and gambling, going dancing, and had a gift for creating her own things through sewing. Her kitchen was a place of abundance, where her talents as a cook and baker ensured there was always something warm to share. No one ever left her home hungry – whether you thought you were or not. She will be remembered for the care she put into every detail of her life, from her classy clothes she wore with grace to her genuine kindness she extended to everyone she met. She was a woman of deep faith and member of Saint Michael Catholic Church, the keeper of our life lessons, and only ever had good things to say. She greeted loved ones with a kiss and parted the same way - a simple gesture that was her signature of love that we’ll always cherish.

Friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Michael Catholic Church, Father Joseph C. Nale, celebrant. Committal, St. Michael Catholic Cemetery.
