Ruth M. Henry

HENRY – Ruth M., 89, New Germany, died Feb. 11, 2016, at home surrounded by her loving family. Born Dec. 8, 1926, in Summerhill, daughter of Aloysius J. and Theresa L. (Weinzierl) Wirfel. Preceded in death by parents and brothers, Leroy, James and Regis Wirfel.

Survived by loving husband of 66 years, James A. Henry, who she married May 14, 1949; children, Carol A., wife of Richard Brown, Stewartstown; Diane, wife of Thom Dolan; Joann, wife of Timothy Kapustka; Sharon, wife of Michael Pasierb; and James J., engaged to Gerry Koller, all of New Germany; and Janice, wife of Chris Rusin, Vintondale; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Claude Wirfel, New Germany; and sisters, Marie Adams, Ebensburg; Evelyn Woomer, Patton; Adella Brown, Ebensburg; Arlene Chimelewski, California; and Alice Moyer, Newry; also numerous nieces and nephews.

Member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and their Altar Rosary Society, New Germany. Ruth was known for her beautiful crochet work and as a talented seamstress who made much of her children’s clothing. She enjoyed volunteering with the 4-H club, making her delicious pizza on Sundays, polka dancing and spending time with family and friends at their camp at Lake Raystown. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and all who knew her.

Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home Inc., South Fork, where the rosary will be recited at 3 p.m., followed by vigil for the deceased.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church by Father Leon Hont, OSB.
