Robert Leo McCormick

June 23, 1943 — March 28, 2021

McCORMICK - Robert Leo, 77, South Fork, passed away at his home on Sunday, March 28, 2021, after seeking every reasonable way to fight esophageal cancer and maintain a good quality life for the past 16 months. Bob was born on June 23, 1943, in Johnstown, Pennsylvania; son of the late Lawrence E. and Margaret J. (Bimle) McCormick. He was preceded in death by brothers, David and Joseph McCormick.

He is lovingly remembered by his children, Dana McCormick (Scott Mercer), Melanie Smay (Rick Lopez), Amy (Scott) Crownover, and Ryan (Lori) McCormick and their mother, Linda E. (Theys) McCormick; grandchildren, Austin (Melissa) Smay, Morgan (Brennan) Smay, Collin Smay (Easlyn Serenko), Luke McCormick, Alyse Crownover, Sydney McCormick, and Hadley Crownover; brother and sisters, Carol (Joe) Brown, Margie (Robert) Baynham, Helen (Bill) Morris, Gale (John) Makoczy, and John (Jennifer) McCormick; in-laws, Robert Theys, Darlene (Bill) Lamason, Valeria Thomas (widow of Timothy Thomas), Terry (Kathy) Theys, Corey (Tina) Theys; Uncle Jay and Aunt Nancy; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Bob was an avid sportsman, loved a good day of fishing, and could tell you a story or two (or ten). A 1961 graduate of South Fork-Croyle High School, in his early years he enjoyed working and living on the family farm. Over the years he learned many trades and became skilled not only in electrical know-how but also in residential construction. He became the “go-to-guy” as a result of his reliability, integrity, and skilled workmanship. He retired after 50 years of varied service and dedication to the community of Summerhill (Borough Electrician since 1980), and 38 years of service at Penelec/First Energy. He served as President of the Laurel Run Rod and Gun Club for 29 years, was an active member of the Mountain Top Trap League for 35 years, and taught hunter safety for over 40 years.

There will be no public services at his request.
