November 21, 1933 - September 20, 2019

HILLEGAS - Philip D., “Pat,” 85, South Fork, died peacefully September 20, 2019, at Forest Hills Personal Care Home. Born November 21, 1933, in South Fork, son of George F. and Catherine (Stiffler) Hillegas. Preceded in death by parents; beloved wife, Joanne M. (Penatzer) Hillegas, who died August 31, 1990; granddaughter, Sara Hillegas; sisters, Pauline J. Wingard, Lois Belanto, and Nadine Bailey; and brother, Garnet J. “Mike” Hillegas. Survived by children, Cindy (Richard) Steffee, Indiana, Pennsylvania; Bret (Susie Mazzone), Hudson, Florida; Duane (Rebecca Paterson), Hanover, Pennsylvania; Michele Hillegas, Tustin, California; and Shawn (Catherine Duran), Burien, Washington; dear friend, Reba Vasas, Sidman; eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and in-laws, Robert (Mary Lou) Penatzer, Ebensburg; J. Martin (Erika) Penatzer, Mountain Ranch, California; Gladys Hillegas, South Fork; and Thelma Penatzer, Johnstown. Pat was a US Army veteran and graduate of Adams Summerhill High School, class of 1952. Retired owner and operator of Hillegas Bus Co. and authorized Pittsburgh Paints dealer since 1968. Member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, South Fork; two-time past president of South Fork Lions Club, and past associate director of the Home Builders Association. He loved spending time with family and friends, was an antique car enthusiast, and enjoyed watching sports; especially Pirates baseball. Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork, where vigil will be held and Lions will conduct their service at 6 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Father Joseph C. Nale, Celebrant. Committal, St. James Cemetery. Military graveside service by American Legion Post 551. Special thanks to Christine and all the staff of Forest Hills Personal Care Home and AseraCare Hospice for their kindness and support.
