Marion G. Cronauer

April 8, 1927 - April 17, 2022

CRONAUER – Marion G. (McCartney), 95, Latrobe, formerly of Summerhill; died Easter Sunday, April 17, 2022. Born April 8, 1927, in Johnstown, daughter of Robert J. Sr. and Christine A. (Denne) McCartney. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Harold T. Cronauer Sr., who died October 9, 2000; sisters, Beverly Quinn and Betty Lou Burley; brother, Robert Jr.; and son-in-law, Sherm Gagnon. Survived by children, Harold Jr., married to Kathy (Boyd), Virginia Beach, Virginia; Victor, married to Sharla (Cook), Oxford, North Carolina; Michael, married to Karen (Bodenschatz), New Germany; Father Patrick, St. Vincent Archabbey, Latrobe; Diane Gagnon, Jacksonville, Florida; Paul, married to Janette (Petrunak), Ebensburg; Joseph, married to Pamela (Costa), Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida; Linda, married to James Beyer, New Germany; Elizabeth, married to Alan Waddell, Ebensburg; and Anthony, Stuart, Florida; sisters, Dolores Leahey, Laurel Springs, New Jersey; and Rose Marie Regala, Louden, Tennessee; and 58 grandchildren and great grandchildren. Marion was baptized at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Cresson. She was a 1945 graduate of Altoona Catholic High School, present day Bishop Guilfoyle; and graduated from the Pittsburgh Hospital School of Nursing in 1948. She worked as a caring and dedicated nurse at Magee-Womens Hospital, both Lee and Mercy Hospitals, and the Ebensburg Center. Devoted and faithful member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Summerhill, where she taught C.C.D. and was active with the Altar Rosary Society. Charter President of the K of C. Ladies Guild, Portage. She was known for her beautifully crocheted afghans, which she gave to family and friends, the VA Hospital, and for newborns at Conemaugh Hospital. Friends will be received from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork, where a vigil will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, New Germany; her son, Father Patrick Cronauer, OSB celebrant and Father Joseph C. Nale concelebrant. Committal, St. Marys Cemetery, New Germany. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial donations to the Benedictine Health and Welfare Fund, Saint Vincent Archabbey, 300 Fraser Purchase Road, Latrobe, PA 15650.
