Marilyn L. Hooker

July 17, 1931 — November 13, 2021

HOOKER – Marilyn L., 90, Johnstown, died November 13, 2021, at Arbutus Park Manor. Born July 17, 1931, in Johnstown, daughter of Clark and Helen E. (Wicks) Lydic. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Rupert C. Hooker, who died May 11, 1994; and sister, Marcia Benden.

Survived by brother, Richard, married to Janice (Peel), Toledo, Ohio; sisters, Elyse, wife of Thomas Brummert, Richland Township; and Pamela, wife of William Valko, South Fork; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Marilyn was a graduate of South Fork High School, class of 1949. She attended Drexel Institute of Technology, Philadelphia; and graduated from Indiana State Teachers College (IUP) in 1954. She taught at Summerhill Township High School, the U.S. Embassy High School, Managua, Nicaragua; and for Prince George’s County Public School District, Maryland. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, South Fork. She loved to travel, was an avid reader, and had a lifelong interest in learning.

Private family visitation.

Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 27, 2021, at Wesley United Methodist Church, Pastor Dawn Davis presiding.

Inurnment, South Fork Cemetery.

Arrangements by Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork.
