Laurie L. Smith

July 3, 1960 - October 29, 2021

SMITH - Laurie L., 61, Llanfair, passed away at home, surrounded by loving family October 29, 2021, after a courageous two-year battle with breast cancer. Laurie was born on July 3, 1960, in Johnstown; daughter of the late William and Judith (Lewis) Marks. Survived by loving husband Craig D. Smith; her children, Jamie, wife of Eddie Strittmatter, Portage; Katie, wife of Roy Hanlon, Lilly; Craig J., Pittsburgh; Emily, Krayn; and Drew, married to Allie (Gaudlip), Richland; grandchildren, Ethan, Aiden and Gavin Strittmatter; Avery and Beau Hanlon; and Brynlee Smith (due in November); and two sisters; and three brothers. Laurie graduated from Forest Hills High School and the Conemaugh School of Nursing. She worked as a nurse at Cleveland Clinic and at Mercy Hospital in Johnstown, where she met her husband, Craig. She spent the rest of her years as a stay-at-home mom and homemaker. Laurie was passionate about her garden, spending many days among her plants and flowers, surrounded by bees and butterflies. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed trips to state parks and the Juniata River with her family to fish, hike, and bike. She was an excellent baker and known for her beloved Toto cookies at Christmas and her homemade jams. She enjoyed sewing, crafting, reading, and hosting family picnics and holidays. Most of all, she loved being a mom and spending time with her family and her pets, Belle, Kitty and Callie. Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork. Masks are required per the family’s request. Visitation at the church from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Salix Bethel United Methodist Church, the Reverend Don Poole presiding. Interment, Dunlo United Methodist Cemetery. A passionate supporter of organ, tissue, and cornea donation due to her son’s transplant, Laurie is giving the gift of sight by donating her corneas. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial donations to Second Chance Fundraising, which was near and dear to her heart. http://www.secondchancefundraising.org/donate Tribute Video: https://www.tributeslides.com/tributes/show/LF2PPXCPKT96SGML?e=1
