ROPECKA – Joseph J., 91, South Fork, passed away April 6, 2020, at Windber Hospice. Born September 3, 1928, in South Fork.

Preceded in death by parents, Joseph and Ethel M. (Rosemas) Ropecka; beloved wife, Rose (Strayer) Ropecka, who died September 23, 2017; sister, Delores; brothers, Allen and James; stepson, Johnny Stephens; and stepdaughter, Jeanie Ann Shrift.

Survived by stepson, Chris Stephens; numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law; and nieces and nephews.

US Army veteran of the Korean War. Joe was a retired coal miner from Island Creek Coal Company and was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, St. Michael. He loved his Boston Terrier, Susie; and enjoyed riding his motorcycle, fishing, and trips to Shawnee State Park.

Due to public health concerns visitation will be private.

A private Funeral Mass for immediate family will be celebrated on Wednesday at St. Michael Catholic Church, Father Brian Warchola, Celebrant.

Committal, St. Marys Cemetery, New Germany.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Windber Hospice, 600 Somerset Avenue, Windber, PA 15963 or St. Michael Catholic Church, P.O. Box 103, St. Michael, PA 15956 in Joe's name.
