MILLER – Helen C. (Wess), 91, formerly of Wilmore, died December 13, 2020 at Rebekah Manor, Portage. Born April 3, 1929, in Summerhill, daughter of Adolph and Coletta (Betz) Wess. Preceded in death by parents; husband, James A. Miller, who died January 21, 2013; and brothers, David C. and George “Bill” Wess.

Survived by son, James C., married to Patty (Arteaga), Wilmore; daughters, Clara Ann, wife of Allen Brummert, Houston, Texas; and Margaret J., wife of James Finn, Ebensburg; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Richard Wess, married to Frances (Wirfel); and Daniel Wess, married to Phyllis (Agypt); and sisters-in-law, Barbara (Bakale) Wess; all of New Germany.

Helen graduated from Indiana State Teacher’s College in 1949 and received a Master’s Degree from New York University in 1954. She taught for 40 years in Summerhill Borough, Adams – Summerhill, and Forest Hills School District. She was a life member of NEA, a member of PSEA, CCEA, PSER, CCEA and FHEA. She was also a member of The Altar and Rosary Society at Immaculate Conception Church, New Germany and a member of St. Ann’s Society, Wilmore. Helen also taught 2nd and 7th grades CCD in St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, Wilmore. Member of St. Francis Secular Order and 3rd order Franciscan.

Due to public health concerns visitation will be held privately at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork. Private Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church Fr. Joseph C. Nale Celebrant.
