Glenn Jackson Sr.

JACKSON – Glenn Sr., 94, Wendell, North Carolina, formerly of South Fork, died August 29, 2018, at Transitions Hospice Care, Raleigh, North Carolina. Born June 27, 1924, in South Fork, son of Matthew and Mary (Wilson) Jackson. Preceded in death by parents; wife, Margaret H. “Peg” (Helsel) Jackson, who died March 27, 2000; and brother, Matthew I. “Stoney” Jackson.

Survived by sons, Thomas M., married to Sharon (Croyle), Wendell, North Carolina; and Glenn Jr., married to Danielle (Wesley), Roaming Shores, Ohio; grandchildren, Scott married to Britt, Evergreen, Colorado; Eric married to Aryn, Gilroy, California; Daniel married to Manda, Roaming Shores, Ohio; and Glenn III, married to Jennell, Ludington, Michigan; great grandchildren, Evan, Kyle, Skylar, Hunter, Clayton, Madelyn, Sophia and Lukas; and sister, Shirley Russell, South Fork.

Glenn was a graduate of South Fork High School, Class of 1943. He was a US Army Veteran of WWII having served in Normandy, France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe with the 498th AAA as a medic. While in high school he began working for the Dimond Funeral Home and continued working there for 67 years. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, South Fork, the South Fork Volunteer Fire Company, St. Michael American Legion Post 551 and was the South Fork Borough Secretary for 34 years and treasurer for 5 years. Glenn had a compassionate and caring spirit. He loved and cared for his wife, Peg and their children. He cared for his community and he cared about his brothers and sisters in Christ whom he worshipped with at Wesley United Methodist Church.

Friends will be received from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork, Pastor Denise Gramling and the Reverend Arlene Bobrowicz presiding.

Military graveside service by St. Michael American Legion Post 551. Interment, South Fork Cemetery.
