78, Portage, died November 24, 2019, at home. Born July 14, 1941, in South Fork, at the top of the hill in Bealtown; son of Ray Sr. and Dorothy (Peterson) Edwards.

Preceded in death by parents; and brother, William.

Survived by loving wife, Ruth Ann (Smerk) Edwards; son, Scott, married to Sharon (Slebodnick); granddaughter, Amanda Edwards, all of Portage; grandson, Scot Edwards; great-grandson, Jaxon Edwards, both of Reading; siblings, Francis, Virginia Beach; Nancy, wife of Charles Hill, South Fork; Jane, wife of Ronald Witherow, Staunton, Virginia; and Ray Jr., married to Nicki (Hamonko), South Fork; and sister-in-law, Mildred “Muff” Edwards, Detroit, Michigan.

Chuck was a graduate of South Fork Croyle High School, class of 1959. US Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War. Active member of South Fork First United Methodist Church, where he sang in their choir and served as a Sunday School teacher. Retired supervisor for US Foodservice and former “There was a time” column writer for the Portage Dispatch. He was a train enthusiast and member of the Portage Railroad Museum, where he assisted in the design and layout of the model train exhibit and often demonstrated and shared the model trains with visitors on Saturdays. He also enjoyed frequent gatherings with high school classmates and attending high school football and minor league baseball games.

Honoring his wishes there will be no public visitation or services.
