Catherine Thrower

THROWER – Catherine V., 98, Dunlo, died January 24, 2021, at St. Benedict Manor, St. Benedict, Pennsylvania. Born October 7, 1922, in Dunlo; last surviving child of Michael and Anna (Lucas) Valko. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Stanley D. “Boots” Thrower, who died August 16, 1997; son Robert S. Thrower, who died May 8, 1965; sisters, Mary Jenkins, Helen Kudrick, Anna Mihalick, and Pauline Valko; and brothers, John, Michael, Andrew, Joseph, Steve, George, Peter, and William Valko.

Survived by sons, Joseph J., married to Ruth Ann (Stern), Windber; and David M., married to Terri L. (Burkhart), Harrisburg; granddaughter, Kate E. (Thrower), wife of Joel Springer, and their children, Harper and Cruz, Frisco, Texas; step-granddaughter, Theresa (Fleegle), wife Bert Heyn, and their children, Conner and Cade, Charlotte, North Carolina; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Member of Ss. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Dunlo, where she enjoyed fellowship with friends in the Altar and Rosary Society. Graduate of Adams Township High School, class of 1941. Member of Dunlo American Legion Post 573, Ladies Auxiliary; and lifetime member of Dunlo Volunteer Fire Company, Ladies Auxiliary, where she served as treasurer for 50 years.

Honoring Catherine’s request, there will be no public visitation.

Divine Liturgy at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Ss. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Dunlo, the Reverend Father James Spontak, Celebrant.

Committal, Ss. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Dunlo.
