Rosie L. Ropecka

ROPECKA – Rose L., “Rosie,” 78, South Fork, died September 23, 2017, at home. Born November 14, 1938, in Sidman, daughter of Duard B. and Ethel F. (Thomas) Strayer. Preceded in death by parents; daughter, Jeanie Ann Shrift; son, Johnny Stephens; sister, Johann Yowell; and step-father, Elmer Theys.

Survived by loving husband of 22 years, Joseph J. Ropecka, whom she married June 9, 1995; and son, E. Chris Stephens. Sister of Jean Reighard, Johnstown; Ora Wood, Houston, Texas; Judy Rigel, Krayn; Sally Platt, South Fork, Danny Theys, Sunbury; Jackie Theys, South Fork; Ginger Bachik, South Fork; Thomas Theys, East Freedom; and Gladys Brown, Mentor, Ohio. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other beloved family and friends.

Rosie was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, St. Michael and retired from the Ebensburg State Center. She was a talented seamstress who could alter, hem or mend anything. She also loved to cook and share her recipes. Devoted to family and friends she will always be remembered for her compassionate spirit and desire to help others.

Honoring her wishes there will be no public viewing.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass which will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Michael Catholic Church, by Father Brain Warchola.
