Joseph C. Wachter

WACHTER – Joseph C., 80, formerly of Wilmore, died October 12, 2016, at the Pennsylvania Veterans Home, Hollidaysburg. Born December 28, 1935, in Altoona, son of Karl J. and Jennie (Cam) Wachter.

Preceded in death by parents and former wife, Mary C. (Crum) Wachter. Survived by daughter, Vernadine Waters, Windber; grandson, Justin Baxendale and friend, Stephanie Stone, Johnstown; granddaughter, Shelena Hockenberry and friend, Wilson Smith, Johnstown; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Dr. Francis, married to Sophie (Harris), Charlotte, North Carolina; and one niece and nephew.

Joe was a US Air Force veteran of the Korean War. Member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, Wilmore. He was a retired metallurgical inspector from Bethlehem Steel Corporation, where he worked for over 28 years. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was an avid hockey fan and season ticket holder of the former Johnstown Jets and Chiefs.

Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork, where vigil will be held. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, by Fr. Joseph C. Nale. Committal, St. Bartholomew Cemetery. Military graveside service by St. Michael American Legion Post 551.
