Dorothy L. Emerick

EMERICK - Dorothy "Dusty" L., 92, Johnstown, died January 11, 2017 at Windber Hospital. Born December 13, 1924, in Adams Township, daughter of Howard G. and Evelyn (Schaffer) Miller.

Preceded in death by parents; husband, Joseph B. Emerick, who died May 18, 2016; sisters, Phoebe Gordon, Romayne Yeager and Barbara Kaufman; brothers, Howard M. “Buzz”, Hershell “Gene”, Robert S. “Sam”, Denver L. and James C. Miller.

Survived by children, Thomas, married to Sally (Weaver), Westland, Mich.; and Richard D., married to Catherine "Kathy" (Boring), Mammoth Lakes, Calif.; grandchildren, Thomas B. (Kathleen) Emerick, Jr.; and Heather (Cole) Battaglia; sisters, Evelyn “Lucki” Reed, Washington, Pa.; Joan (David) Skinner, Akron, Ohio; and Sandra Stigers, Beaverdale; brother, Clarence “Pete”, (Pat), Youngstown, Ohio; and numerous other beloved family and friends.

Dusty loved sharing the Good News and was a longtime member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, East Hills Congregation. She was a graduate of Adams High School, Class of 1942. Afterward she received schooling in tax preparation and worked in the industry through the 1970’s. She also worked as a secretary in the government in Washington D.C. and at Harris Tool & Die Company in Philadelphia.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Saturday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork, by Elder Jonathan Replogle

Interment, Dunmyer Cemetery.
