HARTEIS – Donald J. “Archie”, 84, Johnstown, died September 12, 2017, at home. Born October 31, 1932, in Johnstown, son of Louis and Elizabeth (Partsch) Harteis. Preceded in death by parents; sisters, Mary Koach, Betty Martin and Ruth Vickers; brothers, Louis and Edward; step-granddaughter, step-grandson; and special canine friend “Muffie.”

Survived by loving wife of 65 years, Doris M. (Weaver) Harteis, whom he married July 26, 1952; daughter, Deborah A., wife of Arthur Peterson, Lexington, Michigan; sons, Donald J., married to Cheryl Trout, Johnstown; and Scott A. and Lynn Dolsky, Windber; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one step granddaughter; 4 step great-grandchildren; and one step great-great-grandson; sisters, Etheleen Brewer, Portage; Helen Bowman, Richland; and Evelyn (Richard) James, Richland; and also brother, Paul (Cora) Harteis, Johnstown.

Don was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Windber. He retired from Bethlehem Steel after 30 years as a crane operator and enjoyed cooking, traveling, gardening and farming.

Honoring his wishes there will be no viewing or visitation.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 605 Graham Avenue, Windber, by Rev. Roderick N. Soha, T.O.R.

Committal, Forest Lawn Cemetery, Johnstown.
