Betty Jean Wissinger

March 29, 1922 — August 3, 2017

WISSINGER - Betty Jean (Brewer), 95, South Fork, died Aug. 3, 2017, at Maple Winds, Portage. Born March 29, 1922, in Summerhill, daughter of late James and Anna (Lees) Brewer. Also preceded in death by husband of 53 years, Sheldon “Dutch” Wissinger Sr., who died Aug. 15, 1994; brothers, Charles, Donald and James Brewer, and sisters, Virginia Durkot and Sarah Brewer.

Survived by sons, Sheldon Jr. (Bonnie Mathieson) and Bruce (Darlene Bellock), all of South Fork, and Scott (Judy Boratko), Richland; also five grandchildren: Tammy (Michael Jr.) McCall, Elton; Randy (Debra Rhoades) Wissinger, Ligonier; Darrin (Kristin Vargo) Wissinger, Canonsburg; Lori Deffenbaugh, Elton; and Mitchell Wissinger, Richland; and 10 great-grandchildren. Also survived by brother, Robert Brewer, Michigan, and several nieces and nephews.

Was oldest member of South Fork First United Methodist Church. Betty enjoyed family gatherings, decorating her home for holidays, beach vacations and winter stays in Florida, and for many years her daily phone chats with sister-in-law Helen “Tootie” Brewer. Family sincerely thanks caregivers Beverly Reighard; staff of Home Nursing Agency Family Hospice and Palliative Care, Ebensburg, especially Gloria Rocker; and Maple Winds staff.

In honoring Betty’s wishes, there will be no viewing. Private family funeral service, the Rev. Terry Trudgen.

Interment, South Fork Cemetery.
